The domed lid is made of sterling silver, intricately adorned with repoussé floral and foliate designs that swirl in elegant Victorian fashion. The base is formed from hand-cut glass, creating a delicate yet functional piece that once held powders, rouge, or treasured trinkets on a lady’s dressing table.

The lid is fully hallmarked for London, England with the Lion Passant (sterling silver), Leopard Head (London assay mark), and date letter ‘S’ for 1837. The maker’s mark is partially visible: ‘M, ?’.
