Vintage 1920s Art Deco Oval Marcasite Silver Ring
Description
The 'stone' known as Marcasite is actually pyrite. Pyrite is cut into small pointed or rounded facets to create marcasites. Their lustre is metallic and their brilliance comes from light reflecting off of the facets. Marcasites were a fashionable alternative for diamonds as early as the 1700s. Marcasites were fashion in the mid-1800s seeing a revival in the 1920s/30s.
Our vintage 1920s Art Deco dress ring features a central oval with a scalloped frame design set with bright glistening marcasite stones. The ring is set in solid sterling silver.
