Description
Vintage 1930s sterling silver Swallow brooch featuring marcasite stones. Marcasites are Pyrite also known as Fools Gold. It was used in jewellery due to it's ability to catch the light, giving a diamond effect.
Swallows symbolised a loved one travelling home safely.
