Vintage 1970s Swivel 18ct Gold Ring
Description
Vintage 1970s Coral and Pearl reversible swivel ring. This unique piece is set in 18ct yellow gold with a secret swivel mechanism. One side of the ring is a marquise shaped Coral and the other side are claw set white pearls. The setting and band have intricate leaf design.
On the outside of the ring it has two hallmarks, unfortunately they have warn away. The ring is most likely from Europe where hallmarking on the outside for example in France.
The Victorians believed Coral would protect you from evil, traditionally children would wear coral necklaces and it was thought to ward off diseases, illnesses, evil spirits and danger. Naples Italy were the main sources of Coral. Coral was the favourite Christening present for the Victorians. Pearls symbolise innocence, purity, humility and harmony.
