Antiguo broche de plata Art Nouveau Louis Rault, con una dama griega o romana que lleva una corona con un pavo real a su izquierda y la firma LR del fabricante a su derecha.
NOTA DEL CATÁLOGO DE SOTHEBY'S
Aunque el trabajo de Louis Rault (1847-1903) no es muy conocido, Vever lo consideraba "uno de los cazadores más distinguidos de la época, y quizás el más grande de todos". Hijo de un zapatero, Rault, que en gran parte fue autodidacta, comenzó su aprendizaje a la edad de 14 años, cuando su afán por aprender se vio frustrado por las tareas mundanas que le asignó su empleador. En 1868, ingresó al taller de Boucheron como cazador y permaneció allí durante siete años, iniciando así una carrera que le valió la admiración de sus contemporáneos y muchos premios, incluida la cruz de la Légion d'Honneur. Varias piezas de Rault se encuentran en la colección del Musée des Arts Décoratifs.
