Antiguo anillo de piedras preciosas de ópalo negro eduardiano engastado en oro amarillo de 9 quilates. El anillo presenta una impresionante piedra preciosa ovalada de ópalo negro, la piedra tiene motas de verdes, rosas y amarillos. Los ópalos negros son los ópalos más raros, fueron descubiertos en Australia a fines del siglo XVIII.
El ópalo es un triplete que indica que la piedra preciosa tiene tres capas: una capa inferior de piedra blanca, una capa central de ópalo negro y una capa de vidrio en forma de cúpula para magnificar y proteger el ópalo.
HISTORIA
Lo más probable es que el ópalo provenga de Lightning Ridge, esta fue la fuente principal de Black Opals, extrajeron ópalos que contenían un fondo predominantemente oscuro (gris oscuro a azul-negro que muestra el juego de colores).
Lightning Ridge en Nueva Gales del Sur, Australia, es el hogar mundial del ópalo negro y se considera que produce los mejores ópalos negros del mundo.
