Presentamos nuestro antiguo broche victoriano de carey con incrustaciones (piqué), popular en las décadas de 1820 y 1870. Esta exquisita pieza de herencia es un testimonio de la fina artesanía de la época victoriana. El broche redondo grande está hecho con piqué de carey que luce impresionante con sus incrustaciones de oro y plata.
En la época victoriana, el carey se utilizaba en la joyería de luto. Cuando alguien fallecía, se usaban ropa y joyas negras como señal de respeto. El carey está incrustado con plata y oro. La concha se calienta y el diseño se presiona en la pieza. La joyería de luto se puso de moda después del fallecimiento del Príncipe Alberto, debido a que la Reina Victoria guardó luto por el resto de su vida.
