Antiguo broche gótico victoriano con esmalte negro brillante engastado en un marco de oro ornamentado. En el centro del relicario hay un panel de vidrio con una hermosa pieza de cabello asegurada en el interior. En la parte posterior del relicario hay una impresionante inscripción que dice: "James Shorter murió el 28 de julio de 1861 a los 64 años. Ann Shorter murió el 31 de marzo de 1878 a los 80 años". Esta pieza es muy especial en diseño e historia.
La joyería de luto se remonta al siglo XVI, se hizo popular en la era victoriana cuando el Príncipe Alberto falleció cuando la Reina Victoria se puso de luto.
