A sentimental treasure from the Victorian era c. 1850s–1870s, this exquisite REGARD acrostic ring spells out the word “REGARD” using a sequence of gemstones: Ruby, Emerald, Garnet, Amethyst, Ruby, Diamond — each chosen for the first letter of its name. These acrostic rings were deeply romantic, often given as tokens of affection or courtship in the mid-19th century.
Crafted in richly toned 15ct gold, the ring features a delicate engraved gallery and claw settings that securely cradle the gemstones. The mixed-cut stones display a beautiful array of colour, each one carefully selected and individually set by hand. Despite the passage of time, the ring retains its original charm and symbolism.
The band shows signs of age, with the original hallmarks worn away, which is not uncommon for a piece of this age and suggests it was well-loved and often worn.
