Broche de deuil victorienne antique en vulcanite représentant l'image d'une dame avec des fleurs dans les cheveux. L'image est surélevée avec des détails complexes.
Vulcanite a été investi en 1843 par Thomas Hancock. Le matériau combine la sève de l'arbre Ficus avec du soufre. Le matériau a été moulé et non sculpté. Il a été utilisé dans les bijoux pendant la période de deuil après la mort du prince Albert en 1861 lorsque la reine Victoria était en deuil. Les bijoux de couleur noire en jais, en vulcanite, en chêne des marais ou en corne pressée étaient des matériaux populaires.
