Les boucles d'oreilles créoles sont originaires d'Afrique et remontent à la Nubie, une civilisation qui existait au IVe siècle dans l'actuel Soudan, selon Yekaterina Barbash, conservatrice associée de l'art égyptien au Brooklyn Museum.
