Earring Size

Our antique and vintage earrings are one-of-a-kind pieces which vary in size. To understand the size of a pair of earrings we included an illustration below for the drop of an earring.

Type of Earrings

Throughout history earring styles have changes from delicate Edwardian screws to showstopping 1980's pieces.

Wire Back: Until the late 1800s fish hook or shepherd hook earrings were the most popular style of earring. These types of earrings are confortable and secure to wear.

Screw Back: Screw back earrings were invented in 1894 this allowed women to wear earrings without piecing their ears. The earring back has a screw which applies pressure to the earlobe to keep the earring in place.

Clip On: Clip on earrings started to became popular in the 1920's up to the 1980's. Wearing clip on earrings is particular good if the earrings are very large, as they do not drag the ear lope down. A clip earring is spring-loaded to confortably hold the earring on the earlobe.
