Description
Antique Victorian cameo brooch featuring a Grecian women carved from a peach coloured shell set in a 9ct rose gold mount. The brooch is secured with an open 'c' clasp and for extra security a safety chain.
Cameo jewellery became popular during the Victorian era, which lasted from 1837 to 1901, and was influenced by the classical style of ancient Greece and Rome. The cameos often depicted classical scenes or portraits of important figures, such as Roman emperors, Greek gods, or famous poets and artists.
