Antique Edwardian Silver Crescent Paste Brooch
Description
Antique Edwardian brooch with paste gemstones set into a silver setting. For the Victorians the 'Crescent Moon' symbolised new beginnings and rebirth. It also represented spirituality and the glorification of the Feminine Moon Goddess.
The brooch has been repaired, on the back of the piece has been reinforced with more silver and a stone has been replaced where the piece has been repaired.
On the open 'c' clasp the brooch has a hallmark indicating the piece is sterling silver.
MEASUREMENTS
The brooch measures 3.7cm / 1.4" in length and 0.3cm / 0.1" in height.
