Rare antique late Victorian, early Art Deco Scarab Beetle charm necklace. The beetle is claw set in a 9ct yellow gold mount. The charm hangs from a new 9ct yellow gold chain.
In the early 20th century Egypt was of great interest in the West with the discovery of Tutankhamun. This brought about the Egyptian Revival period where design in jewellery, fashion and furniture was inspired by Egypt.
MEASUREMENTS
The charm measures 1.5cm / 0.6" in height and 1cm / 0.9" in width. The chain measures 45.72cm / 18" in length.
CONDITION
The charm is in excellent antique condition.
