14" Necklace - fits just around then like a chocker.

16" Necklace - will fall around the base of the neck similar to a collar. The fall of the necklace will depend on the individual size of the wearers neck.

18" Necklace - will fall below the throat at the collarbone.

20" Necklace - will fall a few inches below the collar bone, this length is perfect for a lower neckline.

22" Necklace - will fall below a standard neckline.

24" Necklace - will fall below a standard neckline..

36" Necklace - will fall bellow the bust.

Description

NO CHAIN

Vintage 1970’s silver square shaped locket featuring etched swirls and flourishes engraved into the front of the piece. Within the locket there are two small windows which allow you to place a picture, lock of hair or a thin momento would be able to fit into the locket. The piece closes with a secure 'click'.

The locket is hallmarked on the back of the piece with the word ‘SILVER’.

HISTORY

The Locket has a long rich history, during the earlier centuries, they were used to carry good luck charms, mementoes, hair, powder and even poison. The locket secured its romantic status during the Victorian era, it became the most mysterious and alluring pieces of jewellery. Only the wearer knows what secrets lie within the locket. It was to be the ultimate love token. Pictures held in lockets were originally miniature portraits, these were gradually replaced with photographs.

MEASUREMENTS

The piece measures 1.8cm / 0.7” square (excluding bail). The piece hangs from a new sterling silver chain measuring 48cm / 18” - 51cm / 20”.

The locket is in good vintage condition.
