14" Necklace - fits just around then like a chocker.

16" Necklace - will fall around the base of the neck similar to a collar. The fall of the necklace will depend on the individual size of the wearers neck.

18" Necklace - will fall below the throat at the collarbone.

20" Necklace - will fall a few inches below the collar bone, this length is perfect for a lower neckline.

22" Necklace - will fall below a standard neckline.

24" Necklace - will fall below a standard neckline..

36" Necklace - will fall bellow the bust.

Description

Vintage 1970s 9ct yellow gold cameo necklace. This beautiful necklace features a carved shell cameo depicting a lady. The lady is slightly raised in an off white with a salmon coloured background. The cameo is framed by a twisted/braided design. The pendant hangs from its original 9ct yellow gold chain.

On the top of the pendant is a gold ring with a number of very small hallmarks, it indicates the piece is set in 9ct yellow gold hallmarks in Birmingham in 1971-1972. The piece was discovered in a box most likely its original box from with the inscription 'Jewellers Pinney's Stamford'.

Cameo jewellery became very popular in the early 19th century cameos featured Roman women. Victorian women on the Grand Tour brought home these pieces from places such as Italy and Greece.

MEASUREMENTS

The pendant measures 1.5cm / 0.6" in height (including ring) and 1.1cm / 0.4" in width. The chain measures 16".
