Antique Edwardian 9ct rose gold oval locket featuring a curved feather and scrolls on the front and scrolls on the back. The locket opens to reveal two compartments to place a photograph or keepsake. The antique locket is 9ct gold indicated by the hallmark '9CT BACK and FRONT', the interior of the locket is not gold.
The Locket is perhaps the most mysterious and alluring pieces of jewellery. Only the wearer knows what secrets lie within the locket. It has to be the ultimate love token. During the Victorian era, young Victorian women would hide a picture of a man they admired, if the man offered up a lock of hair a marriage proposal usually would follow.
