Antique Edwardian Silver Baby Rattle
Description
Antique Edwardian silver baby rattle, featuring a sterling silver ball. The sterling silver ball has a pierced circle and star pattern and is attached to a celluloid ring. The necklace is made out of celluloid, a material patented in 1869 it was the first man-made plastic formulated in Birmingham, England. This piece would be a lovely christening or new baby gift.
MEASUREMENTS
The silver ball measures 2.2 cm / 0.8" in diameter, the ring measures 2.8cm / 1.1" in diameter.
CONDITION
The rattle is in good antique condition with two dents in the silver ball but this does not detract from the beauty of the piece.
HALLMARKS
The rattle is stamped with two hallmarks, 'Lion', letter 'd', indicating the piece is sterling silver hallmarked in 1903-1904.
