Antique Edwardian Sterling Silver Sovereign Case Locket Necklace
Description
Antique Edwardian sterling silver sovereign case from silversmith Samuel M Levi hallmarked between 1902-1903 in England, the piece is stamped with the makers mark 'S.M.L'. The case as a button at the top of the pendant which when pressed released the front of the piece, inside the case a single sovereign can be secured.
Unfortunately we do not use sovereigns today and the original purpose of the piece can not be performed with modern day money however the case could be used as a locket for a picture or momento secured in the spring compartment.
MEASUREMENTS
The case measures 4.5cm / 1.8" in height and 3cm / 1.1" in length. The case hangs from a 45cm / 18" new sterling silver chain.
CONDITION
The case is in excellent antique condition.
