Antique Victorian 1851 Ornate Silver Banjo Brooch
Description
Victorian Banjo brooch set in sterling silver featuring beautiful engravings and flowers. On the back of the brooch it is hallmarked with 'RJW', Lion, a shield and the letter 'C' indicating the piece was hallmarked in 1851-1852 in Chester, England by Richard John Wakefield, a Birmingham jeweller from the jewellery quarter, based in Tenby Street North.
This brooch would be perfect for a person who played the Banjo or a similar instrument.
MEASUREMENTS
The brooch measures 3.4cm / 1.3" in length and 1.4cm / 0.5" in height.
CONDITION
The brooch is in excellent antique condition.
