Our antique locket is a stunning example of Victorian craftsmanship, featuring an elegant oval shape and a rich 9ct yellow gold exterior. The detailed engravings on both the front and back are reflective of the era's affinity for ornate and meaningful jewelry. In the Victorian era, such lockets were more than just accessories; they served as personal keepsakes, often holding cherished mementos of loved ones.
The locket hangs from a new 9ct gold chain. The locket is a gold 'back and front' locket which means the front and back of the locket are 9ct gold while the inside is brass. Brass was used at this time for strength, lockets are opened and closed which can weaken the closure, brass solved this problem at the time.
