Antique Victorian Bloodstone Fob Pendant Necklace
Description
Antique Victorian gilt fob pendant, featuring a solid piece of Bloodstone. These stones were commonly used in fobs and often had family crests carved into them, they would have been worn on a gentleman's watch chain mostly for decoration. The stones can turn all the way round. Bloodstone is the mineral 'Heliotrope' (from the Greek, Sun to turn'), it is a variety of chalcedony with red inclusions of hematite. The bloodstone is a dark green with flecks of red in it. The stones are smooth and cold to touch.
MEASUREMENTS
The pendant measures 2.8cm / 1.1" in height, 2.3cm / 0.9" in width. The pendant hangs from a new 18" 9ct gold chain.
CONDITION
Good, the stone has two very fine chips which is not visible to the eye.
