Snuff was a mixture of ground tabacco and scented oil, a fashionable habit in the 18th century. This highly decorative box would be perfect for your precious jewels. Papier Mâché became one of the most popular crafts in England during the late eighteenth century. A process of layering sheets of paper which was layered, lacquered and oiled before being baked. Often papier mâché pieces were highly decorative and made to look Japanese in design.
