Antique Victorian Pinchbeck Belcher Chain Necklace
Description
Pinchbeck is a metal alloy consisting of brass, zinc and copper made by Christopher Pinchbeck in the 1720s. He was a London clockmaker and Pinchbeck was developed as an alternative to gold. The material was cheaper, lighter and did not tarnish and could be made into intricate designs.
Our beautiful highly collectable antique Victorian chain features a belcher chain with oval links set in Pitchbeck. The necklace secures with a push clasp. This style of chain is an excellent alternative to solid 18ct gold as it gives you the same weight and appearance.
