Antique Victorian Puffed Yellow Gold Heart Locket Necklace
Description
Victorian (1837- 1901) 9ct yellow puff ball heart locket, featuring delicate floral etchings on the front and the back of the pendant. The locket is hallmarked on the underside, saying '9ct BK & FT'.
The Locket has a long rich history, during the earlier centuries, they were used to carry good luck charms, mementoes, hair, powder and even poison. The locket secured its romantic status during the Victorian era, it became perhaps the most mysterious and alluring pieces of jewellery. Only the wearer knows what secrets lie within the locket. It was to be the ultimate love token. Pictures held in lockets were originally miniature portraits these were gradually replaced with photographs.

MEASUREMENT:
The locket measures 0.9cm / 0.3" in length and 0.4mm / 0.1" in thickness. The pendant hangs from a new solid 9ct rose gold chain.
CONDITION:
The locket is in excellent antique condition, the locket closes securely and the piece is free of dents.
