Vintage 1920s rolled gold necklace. This beautiful flower necklace is made from rolled gold. Rolled gold is a hybrid metal consisting of fine layers of gold, that is fused by heat to create one or both sides of the base metal of brass or copper, The layers are rolled into sheets and contain 5% of gold. The process was patented in England 1817, it became popular in the 1920s and 1930s being used in high quality costume jewellery. This necklace has five small daisy style flowers on the chain of the necklace. Each flower has a claw set pale blue stone. The pendant is a filigree flower with fine detail on both front and back. The chain measures 40.5cm and the charm 2cm in diameter, the necklace is in excellent vintage condition.
