Description

Vintage 1920s rolled gold Art Deco necklace featuring silver and black glass beads. The glass beads in this necklace are made from a technique originating from the glass work produced in Venice. This type of bead is called a Venetian foil bead, inside the glass beads small pieces of foil are placed to add colour and shine. These beads where probably made in Bohemia as this region was highly skilled at the art of glass making. The black and silver beads are joined together with rolled gold links and straight sections. Rolled gold is a thin layer of gold on a base metal and fused together by heating.

MEASUREMENTS
The necklace measures 43cm / 17" in length and the foil beads range from 0.6cm / 0.2" to 1.3cm / 0.5" in width.

CONDITION
The necklace is in very good vintage condition and fastens with a secure bolt ring clasp.
