Vintage 1930s 9ct Gold Heart Locket Necklace

The Locket is perhaps the most mysterious and alluring pieces of jewellery. Only the wearer knows what secrets lie within the locket. It has to be the ultimate love token. During the Victorian era, young Victorian women would hide a picture of a man they admired, if the man offered up a lock of hair a marriage proposal usually would follow. Lockets were considered a statement of an intention to marry.
Our vintage 1930s heart shaped locket set in 9ct yellow gold. The locket is solid 9ct yellow gold on the front and the back of the locket. Lockets were made with brass interiors and hinges for strength during this period.
On the front of the locket it has ornate engraved flourishes. The locket hangs from a vintage 9ct yellow gold chain. Each link on the chain is flat, the chain catches the light giving a beautiful effect.
This locket can hold two pictures, alternatively a written note, a lock of hair or a piece of material could be placed into the locket as a keepsake. This locket could be worn everyday as a beautiful reminder of the secrets within.
