Vintage 1930's Bakelite Rolled Gold Flower Necklace

Vintage 1930's Bakelite necklace, featuring amber coloured Bakelite beads strung with rolled gold chain. The necklace has a beautifully carved flower with smooth amber oval beads and tiny black beads used as highlights.
Bakelite was developed by Leo Baekeland in 1907 is was an early plastic resin originally used for industrial purposes. The material was used widely in the 1920's and 1930's.
Rolled gold necklaces were popular from 1914 until the late 1940s. These necklaces were handmade, providing work for injured soldiers returning from the war. Rolled gold is a thin layer of gold on a base metal and fused together by heating.
MEASUREMENTS
The necklace measures 48cm / 19" in length, the full drop is 3.9cm / 1.5" in height and the flower is 2cm / 0.7" in length and 0.8cm / 0.3" in widt.
CONDITION
The necklace is in excellent condition.
