Vintage 1930s bangle set in black and white Bakelite. The bangle is smooth to touch with two black and white carved Scottie Dogs. The bracelet opens and shuts on a secure spring setting. Scottie dog jewellery became very popular in the 1950's because the American President Roosevelt who had a little Scottie called Fala.
Bakelite was an early resin made from plastic, developed by Leo Baekeland in 1907. Bakelite became popular in the 1920s to 1940s, it was popular due to the variations of colours and its durability.Bakelite’s range of colours were given names like Creamed Corn, Butterscotch, Egg Yolk, and Salmon. Today Bakelite is a popular collector's item.

MEASUREMENTS
The bangles internal measurement when shut is 7cm / 2.7" by 5cm / 1.9". The piece opens 6cm / 2.3" allowing for the piece to be slide over the wrist. The bracelet is 4.5cm / 1.7" at the highest point.
