Vintage 1930s bangle set in orange Bakelite. The bangle is smooth to touch. Bakelite was an early resin made from plastic, developed by Leo Baekeland in 1907. Bakelite became popular in the 1920s to 1940s, it was popular due to the variations of colours and its durability. Bakelite’s range of colours were given names like Creamed Corn, Butterscotch, Egg Yolk, and Salmon. Today Bakelite is a popular collector's item.
