Vintage 1930s Czech brooch featuring claw set diamante paste stones set in a dark filigree setting, with a large oval deep red glass central stone. The brooch fastens with a trombone clasp.

Bohemia played an important role in costume jewellery. Bohemian costume jewellers pioneered cut-glass imitation gemstones and pearls. Bohemia gemstones where such good quality they rivalled beads produced in Venice during the 1920s.
