Vintage 1930s French Cicada Insect 'Good Luck' Pin Brooch

Vintage 1930s French Cicada insect brooch pin. The Cicada symbolises rebirth, longevity, protection and good luck. The Cicada insect is able to shed one's skin, emerging new and different, these amazing insects can live up to 20 years.
This coloured brooch has been painted with iridescent paint with warm oranges, yellows, amber and browns, the wings of the piece is transparent. The brooch is light in weight and secures with an open 'c' clasp.
In the early 20th century Egypt was of great interest in the West with the discovery of Tutankhamun. This brought about the Egyptian Revival period where design in jewellery, fashion and furniture was inspired by Egypt.
MEASUREMENTS
The brooch measures 5.7cm / 2.2" in length and 2.5cm / 1" in width.
CONDITION
The brooch is in excellent vintage condition.
