Vintage 1930s Mother of Pearl 'Mary' Brooch
Description
Vintage Art Deco 1930s mother of pearl brooch with the name 'Mary'. This type of brooch was typically given to a lady from her sweetheart or son, often a soldier or sailor before he left for duty, as a token of affection.
The word 'Mary' is mounted in a rolled gold wire on a mother of pearl base and secured with a rolled gold open 'c' clasp. Rolled gold is a thin layer of gold on a base metal and fused together by heating.
MEASUREMENTS
The brooch measures 4cm / 1.5" in length and 2m / 0.7" in height.
CONDITION
The brooch is in excellent vintage condition.
