Vintage 1940s apple juice Bakelite dress clips. The dress clips features moulded Bakelite plastic with a silver tone clip. Bakelite was an early resin made from plastic, developed by Leo Baekeland in 1907. Bakelite became popular in the 1920s to 1940s, it was popular due to the variations of colours and its durability. Today Bakelite is a popular collector's item.
These beautiful dress clips can be fastened around the neckline or lapels on a dress, coat or jumper. They can used be to hold a scarf in place. Dress clips are very versatile and are excellent on thinner fabric compared to brooches.
