Vintage 1940s Rolled Gold Glass Locket Necklace
Description
Vintage 1940s rolled gold glass locket. This pendant is very unusual, glass lockets are not common to find. The bale of the locket unscrews, loosening the glass panes allowing you to place a picture, lock of hair or a thin momento would be able to fit into this locket.
Rolled gold is a hybrid metal consisting of fine layers of gold that are fused by heat to create one or both sides of a base metal of brass or copper. Usually rolled gold consists of 5% gold. This process was patented in England in 1817; it became popular in the 1920's and 1930's and was used in high quality vintage jewellery.

The pendant hangs from a new 9ct yellow gold chain measuring 18". The locket measuring 2.2cm / 0.8" (excluding the bale) in diameter.
CONDITION
The pendant is in excellent vintage condition.
