Vintage 1940's Trifari Crab Brooch
Description
Vintage 1960's designer Trifari crab brooch featuring milk glass. On the underside of the brooch it has the makers mark 'Trifari Pat. Pend'. This hallmark was used between 1932 to 1954. This mark was used mainly on pieces which were designed by well known head designer Alfred Philippe, who joined the Trifari company in early 1930.
ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Trafari is an eminent jewellery company of the USA starting in 1910 to 2000. Celebrated jewellery designer Alfred Philippe who in c.1930 left Van Cleef & Arpels to join Trifari a New York based company who became the largest costume jewellery maker in the United States. It produced many styles and prices of jewellery, covering different designs with quality craftsmanship. Trafari also created real pieces of jewellery for private clients including Hollywood stars, Broadway musicals and the US First Lady Mamie Eisenhower for the Presidential Inaugural Balls of 1953 and 1957. A truly diverse jewellery brand.
MEASUREMENTS
The brooch measures 4.5cm / 1.7" in length and 3.7cm / 1.4".
CONDITION
The brooch is in excellent vintage condition.
