In Victorian symbolism, the butterfly represented the soul. Within religion, the cycle of a butterfly has meaning - life (caterpillar), death (chrysalis), rebirth or resurrection (butterfly).
Vintage 1950s Moth / Butterfly bracelet featuring filigree detailing. Each butterfly on the bracelet have two sets of wings which protrude giving the brooch a more pronounced 3D effect. This is a magnificent bracelet with a huge amount of work which has gone into making it.
Filigree is a delicate form of metal work in silver or gold creating a lace effect. This style of jewellery was very popular in Italy and France in the late 19th century.
