Vintage 1958 9ct Gold St Christopher Pendant Necklace

Vintage 1950s pendant featuring St Christopher set into a 9ct yellow gold disc. St. Christopher offered protection to travellers and aginast sudden death, he is pictured as a giant man with a child on his shoulder and a staff in one hand. In England there are more images of St. Christopher than any other saint. In England, it is traditional to gift a small St. Christopher pendant for a new born baby on their Christening.
The pendant has a number of hallmarks indicating the piece was set in 9ct yellow gold, hallmarked in Birmingham in 1958-1959 by maker W.J.S.

The pendant measures 1.2cm / 0.5" in diameter and the 9ct gold chain (original) measures 42cm / 16.5" in length.
