Vintage 1960s enamel silver Koi fish pendant. This unusual necklace features purple and cream enamel set into a Koi fish, the body of the fish moves as you wear the pendant. This pendant most likely came from China a souvenir from the 1960's traveller, a true vintage Chinese export.
The earliest ancient legend of the koi fish dates 533 B.C. The legend says Chinese philosopher Confucius was born a son in 533 B.C, King Shoko of Ro presented him with a black carp, as a gift. According to legend all modern day koi and their bright colours are from the black carp given to Confucius by the king. In general the koi are believed to give you good fortune, success, prosperity, longevity, courage, ambition and perseverance.

The pendant measures 3.6cm / 1.4" in length and 2.5cm / 1" in width. The pendant hangs from a silver chain measures 16.3" / 41.4cm in length.
