Vintage 1970s Dummy Pacifier 9ct Gold Charm Necklace
Description
Our vintage 1970s necklace featuring a babies dummy (pacifier) charm set in solid 9ct yellow gold. The charm hangs from a new 9ct yellow gold chain.
Dummies or Pacifiers were first cited in medical literature in 1473. Modern dummies as we know them were designed in 1900, first patented in New York. Prior to the traditional dummies we see today the babies of the 17th and 18th century would have been given pacifier rings made of coral, bone or ivory, these would have been ornate with silver handles.
