Description

Vintage 1980s Italian large hollow chunky gold hoop earrings set in 9ct yellow gold. The earrings were made by Italian fashion house UnoAErre. The earrings are light in weight and the perfect set to wear daily.

Founders Carlo Zucchi and Leopoldo Gori founded the Italian jewellery house UnoAErre in 1935. The earrings have a number of marks, the makers mark 'Unoaerre' alongside '375' indicating the earrings are set in 9ct gold.

HISTORY

Hoop earrings originated in Africa, dating back to Nubia, a civilization that existed in the fourth century in what is now present day Sudan, according to Yekaterina Barbash, associate curator of Egyptian art at the Brooklyn Museum.
