Victorian 1.50 Carat Old European Cut Diamond Flower 15K Gold and Silver Antique Bracelet
About this piece
A garland of diamond flowers, made in the Victorian era and still sparkling more than a century later. Thirty-six old European cut diamonds, approximately 1.50 carats in total, are set in sterling silver, a technique Victorian jewelers used to show off the whiteness of the stones, with a 9K gold backing for strength and warmth. The floral panel is joined by a 15K yellow gold chain.
Silver-topped gold was the height of fashion for fine diamond jewelry before platinum came into use, and this bracelet is a beautiful example of the technique: bright, white diamonds, cut by hand, against the soft glow of antique gold.
