Vintage 1950s brooch featuring a Scottie dog. The brooch has two tiny red rhinestones set into the eye and marcasite stones over the body of the dog. Marcasite is actually Pyrite all known as Fools Gold. It was used in jewellery due to its ability to catch the light, giving a diamond effect. Scottie dog jewellery became very popular in the 1950's because the American President Roosevelt had a little Scottie called Fala.
